what the fuck am i doing

GearNep

Hello again internet, haven't posted in a while because nothing worthwhile happened in my life in this mean time. Everything seems the same, like nothing has changed since four or so months ago. That's because of my failure to fight procrastination. It's much easier to wait for a miracle then to try to step up and do something yourself, i guess i always find an excuse to do just that. And this time is my possible immigration to Canada for my university studies.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, enough of my useless self pity.

Three weeks ago i was browsing a certain persons twitter, and i found a song that really caught my attention. That song was "Goodbye" from the Japanese band Toe.

Toe's style is described both as "Post-Rock" and "Math Rock" everywhere i looked online. This is something really new to me, because never once in my life i have been so obsessed with rock music. Doing some research, I think I'm particularly draw to this band because of the "Math Rock" aspect. Complex rhythms, odd time signatures, and a emphasis on the drums really caught my ears, as me being a drummer myself. Toe's drummers is amazing, and the beats they use for their songs are the beats that i hear in my mind that i always dreamed of playing, but couldn't physically realized it myself in the drums. ( due to lack of practice ).
Other factors for me liking this particular band is the simple yet effective use of minimalist melodies, the fact that most of their songs are instrumental only, i could for much longer citing things that i like about them. Their live performances are incredible, they put so much energy into playing, and often much better then their studio recordings counterparts.

I will leave a video of my favorite performance of "Goodbye" and a download link for their "CUT_DVD" album, which is a recording of one of their tours.

You can (not) continue with your life

GearNep

Hello internet. My job at the Olympic games just ended, as the Paralympics came to a close yesterday, and because of that I'm going to have more free time do experiment with stuff in this blog, maybe change the layout a little, who knows.

As of my last post things remain the same in my life in general ( pretty fucking shit ), but with my job contract ending, more uncertainties arise with it, as i don't know what the fuck I'm going to do next.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Cowboy Bebop

With my newly acquired free time, i have been trying to finish watching Cowboy Bebop, an all-time classic that i somehow missed in my anime watching life.
As i progress through the series something that got my attention instantly besides the direction, story telling, animation, characterization and setting, was the music.

Yoko Kanno is behind the music in the anime, and her compositions are something else. I think great part of the personality that this show has comes from the carefully crafted music, with lots of scenes being constructed around the music, and not the other way around. Something that makes each moment really stand out from other shows that i watched (not that many).

I found lots of albums with Cowboy Bebop music around the net, so like i do with all of my music i compiled every single song from every single album that i found in a single package. It should contain pretty much all of the tv series, movie and soundtrack music, with maybe just some of them missing.

Download !

Knocking a little harder

My favorite song from the whole Cowboy Bebop series is this one:

I'm not a big fan of rock music, but with how Yoko Kanno somehow gives this music a kind of bluesy jazzy vibe, along the lyrics that hits way to close to home, this song (along with some other ones) sorta somehow helped me have the energy to go through the hell that was my job in the Olympic games.

Other group that i love is Platina Jazz, along with the composer Rasmus faber, they create Jazz arrangements for anime Scores, and pretty much everything that they put out is gold.
BUT, with their rendition of "Gotta Knock a little harder" in my opinion they produced a much worse version of the original song. See:

I think most of my complaints for this cover are addressed by the fact that this is a live recording.
The tempo is to slow and the band kinda lacks energy, the singer has a nice voice but the way he phrases the melody breaks the flow of the song.

  --------------------------------------------------------------------

I just realized that i wrote a lot today, maybe that's because i have been feeling specially lonely these days. In the next post i will upload my complete Platina Jazz collection, with like 5 CD's, something that i wanted to do for a while

  Bye. ~

Man who thought he'd lost all hope loses last additional bit of hope he didn't even know he still had

Hey Internet.  Im not dead.  Yet.

Hello. I have been away from a while because things are pretty fucking shit here these days, i really don't know anymore.

  Anyway,

Writing here helped me in the past, so here i am again writing whatever the fuck that gets on my head, so i can pretend i have someone that listen and care to the shit i have to say.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I feel like always uploading things here when i post, so i uploaded a collection of Japanese Kawaii Pop Music i got from one of my favorite artists from the genre,           Lovely Summer-chan.

From what i get she does mostly collabs with other artists from japan, and launch singles, like her recent "PART TIME ROBOT" and not so recent "ベッドルームの夢 e.p.", which is my all time favorite song from her.
She posts almost all of her music and covers through soundcloud, and her site recently had some changes
and looks like we will soon be able to buy music albums from her in there.
If you search Lovely Summer-chan on the internet, you might find some CD's with collections of her songs, like amazon and cdjapan, but i'm waiting so i can buy music from her directly,  just like i did with Lamp,  to better support her music.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I took some of my favorite tracks and made an album with mp3tag, an awesome tagging software i have been using to better organize my music. ( i used the cover of one of her singles, they are always really cute )

Advantage Lucy

GearNep

Hi everyone, I'm still alive.

I am listening to a lot of different stuff recently, recommended by my last.fm account. There i discovered this really awesome Japanese indie band "Advantage Lucy", their music captures everything that i like about that sweet, bubbly and gummy Japanese Pop i have been looking for.

Here is one of my all time favorite tracks "How do you feel" from their album "Station"

As i will always point out, please, support the artist by buying the albums and endorsing them on social media if you like what you hear.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are some download links for some of their albums, i couldn't find every single one, as their music is not all that well know and available on the net. As i find and buy more albums by them i will upload them here.

Work, despair and ゆめ

GearNep

  Hello internet.

I just got back from work, and in my way to home i was listening to "ゆめ", a wonderful album by the Japanese band Lamp.

Lately i have been exploring the Japanese indie pop scene, and it's really hard to find high quality complete albums on the internet for some of these bands, so I'll sometimes upload some hard to find albums that i like here for people who find themselves in a similar situation.

I have no issues with piracy, but when it's about really underrated bands like these, i would highly recommend buying the CD's or even the digital releases to support the content creators. I'm uploading this album because i bought them from Lamp's official bandcamp, and they arrived the other day! Yay ~

The other two CD's "Tokyo Utopia Tsushin" and At "Komorebi ST" are some of my favorites albums from Lamp, and i might upload them here in the future.

Lamp is one of my favorite bands right now, using influences by Brazilian 60's music, Bossa nova, rock and jazz.
One of the thing that is ringing the most bells for me right now in music it's Japanese female vocals ( Lamp has an amazing one ). For me, the way the Japanese syllables are pronounced in music is much more lyrical then in other languages, in a way that makes it really soothing and relaxing, and i also think like this for music sung in French for some reason.

Here is some links for information about Lamp on the internet.

14/08/2016

The other day i talked to someone i haven't seen for a pretty long time, and maybe something might happen in the end of the week that might cheer me up a little.
These days i have been feeling pretty numb. Just working and studying a lot, i noticed that when i have my days off from work, i have some time to think about myself and that makes me feel lonely and miserable.

That makes me want to never stop working.

bye~
